ADOPTION COUNSELLING                                        It has been officially recognised that all parties involved in adoption can be subject to many different and confusing issues. These can range from identity, self esteem and attachment issues to anxiety around reunions.  It is for this reason that only counsellors who have undertaken specific training and are registered with an Adoption Support Agency are able to work in this field. I am an Approved Adoption Counseller with Barnardo’s Adoption Agency that is registered to provide adoption placement and support services In addition to my general counselling experience, I am further trained in all matters related to adoption and also with issues of attachment. If you are affected by adoption - either as an adoptee or birth family member (parent, sibling or other relation), then I can help you to understand the process and to help you to express difficult feelings you may be experiencing.  Your child may be about to be adopted;  you may be about to adopt;  you and/or your adopted child may be experiencing difficulties;  or you may be thinking about tracing your birth family for a reunion.  These are all very emotional times and counselling can help to support you and I can allow you the space to discuss and explore your feelings in a non judgmental way.
